| August -  We've spent the last week removing our old Trident Vector console, and are building a beautiful recapped 48-channel Neve VR Legend, with great help from Neve-genious Neil McCombie from Scotland. If you're not familiar with Neve, we can say that some of the all time greatest albums have been recorded on Neve VR desks... Do a quick search on google... Thom Yorke, Muse, Justin Timberlake, PJ Harvey, Oasis, Slipknot, Nas, Moby, Basement Jaxx, Pink, The Answer, Babyshambles, Jamiroquai, Guns'n Roses, Johnny Cash to mention a few... The more famous Abbey Road Studios use Neve desks, and have the same VR model in their studio 2...! June - We're finished mixing and mastering the first album from young jazz-pop-rockers Blue Basement. Recording has been a blast, and we're very happy with the results! April - Recording album and playing with strange instruments with young talents in Blue Basement. We're sure this will be a great sounding album.- Recording drums and mixing with Djerv ; new band with Agnete (former Animal Alpha singer) and Erlend "Gorg" Gjerde (former Stonegard drummer) - Frank Ness has finished a new mix for The Insider. The song is called “Where did I go” and the music video is soon in the making. - The Spellemanns nominated artist Chris Lee is back in the studio to record a killer track with Frank Ness. |
March  Spring is finally on it's way, and there are things happening at Urban Sound Studios:- Frank Ness is currently working with norwegian hip-hop group DRM, in Studio B. Rappers Phreske Phred, Ormstunge & Ole O (all in their late 20's) and DJ Lucky LK are currently in the studio finishing their soon-to-drop debutalbum, with the working title "ABC". 2010 is the year, and DRM is the crew to watch. With producers like Marshtini, ESHM, Lasse Michelsen, Remy & Suveren providing the beats, this album is guaranteed to be an all-time norwegian hiphop-classic. Read more.. - The new album by Kutchala Sutchi & la Tribu Sauvage : "Le temps du gorille" (The time of the gorilla), was released in November 2009 in the Ivory Coast. The album was already recorded,mixed and mastered in Ivory Coast prior to this but Kutchala wasn't happy with it. We re-recorded all the drums with Uriel Seri and the new mixes from Urban Sound brought it to life. The band was very satisfied, and are now getting great reviews back in Ivory Coast! > Kutchala on myspace / youtube / facebook     - Jock produced and recorded all the vocals for metalheads BREED on their new album,and (even if it doesn't look like it) the guys are happy, happy! He is also mixing with SilverImage and recording with brazillian percussionist Célio de Carvalho and Sverre Indris Joner. - Robin is finishing recording debut album with Before The Devil Steals Our Tango. - YTO Solreiser's album is ready to be released worldwide by the end of april through Indie Distribution. - Review of Ras-Nas' Poetry album "Double Focus" February - Amazon Ensemble is on studio recording its new album with very special guests like the Pakistani master tabla player Nafees Irfan, saxophonist Robin Sohrabi-Shiraz, Chandra Lacombe from Brazil, Uriel Seri from Ivory Coast.  - Nafees Irfan is also conributing with his amazing tabla skills on a track by norwegian duo Pay-per-frog, who is Thomas Wang and Arne K. November 2009  - Yolanda Myrbostad is currently in the studio writing a new track with SilverPlate.SilverPlate recorded and cowrote the new track called "Så sjuk" with the norwegian artist/rapper Joddski. The track is to be released in France.  - SilverPlate has been working on Chris Lee's second album "LoveGhost". By co-writing and producing the track Angels. SilverPlate took on an experimental vision for the Sandvika rapper. > Review in Natt&Dag - Frank Ness has in addition to Angels also contributed as a mixing engineer for the track "Think I'm Lying" featuring the multi-platinum selling US rapper Too $hort alongside the track "Like you wish". Frank Ness has mixed a new Chris Lee track "Being Alive"."- SilverPlate recorded and cowrote the new track called "Så sjuk" with the norwegian artist/rapper Joddski. September 2008 - Bollywood Brass Band: - The worldwide known british group did 3 shows at the Opera house together with Bollywood star Rafqat Ali Khan. Urban Sound assisted with technical support, rehearsal and instrument rental. August 2008 - MELA Festival 08: - We were contributing in many areas at this year's annual MELA Festival (Oslo international world music festival) at Rådhusplassen, Oslo. Rehearsal and transportation for artists, live recording, post-production of selected artist, equipment rental, technical assistance, and the often needed "chaos resolving".. August 2008 - Stonegard appears in Scream Magazine: - Read interview with Erlend Gjerde, the carpenter and engine behind this national acclaimed metal band. August 2008 - Heroes & Zeros' "In the Slipstream vol.1" is out. - Thomas, with help from Fernando, has done all recording of this live album by the norwegian heroes. Two of the tracks were recorded at Oslo Spektrum when they opened for Smashing Pumpkins. July 2008 - Recording YTO: - The norwegian Jazz-grunge-metal-group YTO is recording and mixing their debut album at Studio A. Guitarist andproducer Thomas Wang is doing the whole production himself.
